Tell your lawmakers to support the CalVIP program and save lives in California!
The California Senate and Assembly are working on their budget right now. Gov. Newsom has already increased funding for the California Violence Intervention & Prevention (CalVIP) Grant Program in his proposed budget. That’s good news, but it’s not enough to maximize the impact of the groundbreaking violence reduction programs that are proven to save lives and make communities safer. Legislators need to hear from YOU.
Call your lawmakers and urge them to fund CalVIP to the full extent of our coalition’s recommendation—$39 million.
It's really easy. Enter your address to get their phone numbers and tell them:
“I’m a constituent and I’m calling to ask the Rep./Sen.___ to support funding the California Violence Intervention & Prevention Program at $39 million. That amount would bring California in line with the states leading on community-based violence intervention. This amount will save lives in our state.”
And if you have an extra couple minutes, you call also call the following senators and assembly members, who have added responsibility for this budget area:
Sen. Nancy Skinner— (916) 651-4009
Sen. Holly Mitchell— (916) 651-4030
Asm. Member Dr. Shirley Weber, MA, PhD— (916) 319-2079
Asm. Member Phil Ting— (916) 319-2019
