Tell your lawmakers to end Louisiana's death penalty!
We have an opportunity to end Louisiana’s broken death penalty – let your legislators know how you feel! Louisiana has more death row exonerations per capita than any other state. We know we make terrible errors. We also know the death penalty doesn’t keep communities safe, it is racist, and it entrenches victims’ families in a decades-long and uncertain process. A new study shows this broken system costs the state $15 million a year to maintain.
HB 215 to repeal the death penalty just passed through the House Committee and will soon be heard before the House of Representatives. It’s time to tell our legislators enough is enough – Louisianans want a criminal justice system that works, not our broken death penalty. Tell your Legislators to vote Yes on HB 215!
